Lisa Famiglietti, M.S. CCC-SLP/A

Lisa Famiglietti has been a practicing speech-language pathologist for over 28 years.  After receiving a Master's degree in audiology and speech-language pathology from Texas Tech University, she was initially certified and licensed as an audiologist and began her career at a state agency facility.  At that facility, she had the opportunity to develop the first diagnostic audiological program as well as the coordination with Ear, Nose, and Throat specialty physicians develop an ENT clinic.  It was this relationship with the participating ENT physicians and the desire to participate in a multidisciplinary approach to differential diagnosis and treatment that spurred her to pursue additional education and training to become certified and licensed as a speech-language pathologist.

Following which, she participated in multiple service delivery settings:  Early childhood centers, skilled nursing facilities, acute care hospitals, outpatient rehabilitation facilities, inpatient residential treatment centers as well as providing evaluation and therapeutic services through home health agencies and hospice.

Given these experiences practicing in different service delivery models under multiple payer sources, Lisa desired to develop a clinical setting that encouraged treatment decisions based upon best clinical practice (see "Our Story") and founded CTSPS, Inc. in 1982.

Lisa has served on both ASHA and TSHA task forces and committees.  She has previously served as a co-chairperson and was a member of the TSHA Private Practice Taskforce.  With collaboration with others TSHA members in private practice, the task force has developed the Business Institute, a special strain of continuing education opportunities for speech-language pathologists in private practice.

Lisa was recently appointed to and accepted the office of president of the Independent Therapy Providers Association (ITPA- www.joinitpa.com). Established in response to a void in the industry, ITPA offers a united voice for Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapists who provide services as private clinics and general rehabilitation facilities. The ITPA represents the interests of therapists in private practice with private insurance companies and government payors.  Additional information about speech-language pathology can also be found a www.asha.org (American Speech and Hearing Association) and www.txsha.org (Texas Speech and Hearing Association).

Lisa has and continues to present at local and state level professional conferences, most recently on the clinical topic of VCD, coordinating research with university programs and growing and maintaining a private practice in speech-language pathology.

"Finally we are seeing tremendous improvements in our son's speech after years of frustration and little progress at a different facility."
