Our Story

I founded Central Texas Speech Pathology Services in 1982 after holding various positions as both an audiologist and speech-language pathologist.  I desired to provide excellence in service for communication and swallowing disorders across the lifespan.  I was determined to practice in a setting which I could adhere to the highest ethical standards and never feel pressured to compromise my integrity or client care.

Although we have grow in size, location and experience, we work hard to remain true to our founding principals and goals.

Adhering to ethical codes and standards established by the American Speech and Hearing Association and Texas State Board

Supporting direct intensive therapeutic services while maintaining manageable caseloads for our therapists and allowing time for research and collaboration

Using the fewest number of therapy sessions and/or services to adequately address disorders by employing research-supported therapeutic methods and developing alternative services delivery models

Treating every client-patient with compassion and dignity while considering prognosis in communication, voice and swallowing needs

Implementing a home program for every patient to increase carryover of targeted skills into functional contexts and reduce the number of therapy sessions required for remediation.

Advocating for financial coverage of treatment services through private insurances and governmental agencies

Offering alternative payment plans for those who are not fortunate to have insurance coverage for services

Although CTSPS began as a one therapist operation, I have attempted to grow in a very responsible manner.  In hiring new therapists, we look for bright individuals who have a passion for the field and a desire to learn.  We allow therapists to pursue areas of interests and provide learning opportunities to enhance their evolving skills to ensure the highest possible performance of all our therapists.

Twenty-eight years later, CTSPS remains owned by, directed by and managed by speech-language pathologists.  Speech pathology is our business, our only business.  As a result, we can offer quality therapy services for a wide variety of communication, swallowing and voice disorders to both children and adults.  We are proud to be a local Austin practice and love the community we serve.
