Foreign Accent Reduction
Foreign Accent Reduction Program: Central Texas Speech Pathology Services, Inc. offers the Compton PESL Program, an accent reduction program designed to improve communication skills by identifying and changing speech patterns that are not consistent with standard American English. The program assists individuals with foreign accents, as well as regional dialects and native-born English speakers. The Compton PESL Program guarantees at least 50 percent improvement in pronunciation of spoken English with consistent practice and completion of the 13 weeks program. In seven weeks, individuals with American dialects can be expected to gain 70 percent or greater improvement. Other instruction in communication skills, including public speaking, is also available.
