Your child's first visit with us will likely be an evaluation. Knowing what to expect can help ease your and your child's minds about the process.

During the Evaluation

As a parent or guardian, your input is essential to the evaluation procedure. Your speech pathologist will ask you questions about your child's history and determine your specific concerns. The evaluation may include standardized testing of articulation and language skills, informal sampling of speech and language skills during play-based activities, an oral-mechanism examination, or trial therapy.

After the Evaluation

After the evaluation, your therapist will share impressions and recommendations that may include initiation of therapy, follow-up with another specialist, or reevaluation at a later date.

How Long Will The Evaluation Last?

You can expect your evaluation visit to last approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
